The rise of Folsom High’s volleyball team this year correlates with an increase in talent of the players in the program. Senior setter Drew Bowman is the team’s top player and has recently accepted a scholarship to play at California Baptist University in Riverside. The Lancers recently won the NAIA National Championship for the seventh time in 10 seasons, defeating Missouri Baptist in three games. Bowman also took recruiting trips to Missouri Valley and Lindenwood University, both in Missouri, but decided on California Baptist. “I definitely liked the fact that the school is in California,” Bowman said. “It’s a smaller school and all the buildings are close to each other and I like that. It seemed like a chill place to go, plus it had my major, which will be Criminology and Forensics.” While the 6-foot, 3-inch Bowman plays multiple positions for Folsom High, he said he will play setter at Cal Baptist.
