Deadline nears for Folsom, Rancho Cordova scholarship
By: Laura Newell, Telegraph staff writer
A deadline has been set for students for a new Folsom scholarship. The deadline for high school students to apply for the Daniel Campbell Ford Scholarship is Friday, April 20. Folsom Cordova Unified School District’s Governing Board Member Zak Ford established the Daniel Campbell Ford Scholarship in his great-grandfather’s honor. “I wanted to do something special for my first year as a district governing board member,” Ford said. “With these tough economic times, I thought it was a good reason to open up my pocketbook and help out.” The Daniel Campbell Ford Scholarship will be awarded to two Folsom Cordova Unified School District graduating seniors planning to continue their education at a two-year or four-year college or university, Ford said. Two students will each be awarded the $1,000 scholarship — one from Rancho Cordova and one from Folsom. Ford chose to honor his great-grandfather because of his passion for education. Ford said he hopes to help provide other students with the same educational opportunities provided to him. “Now that I have a position in the community where I have an opportunity to give back, it’s important for me to do it while also honoring my great-grandfather,” Ford said. Students can contact Zak Ford at (916) 813-6658 or firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information and scholarship applications, visit DanielCampbellFord.com.
