The Folsom Chinese School, a not-for-profit organization established by a group of Chinese school leaders and educators from the Greater Sacramento area, is planning to open a school in Folsom. Goal is to promote the Chinese language and culture and help youth preserve and appreciate their Chinese heritage as well as bridge educational and cultural exchanges and friendship between the United States and China. Classes will be offered weekends and/or after school and will be open to anyone interested in the Chinese language and culture regardless of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Offered will be classes for kindergarten students and up, CSL(Chinese as second language) and adult conversation classes. The sixth grade class will be geared to students with advanced Chinese language skills and the teacher will provide SAT II preparation materials. All instruction will be tailored to youth learning Chinese as a second language. The adult conversation class will be open to anyone interested in Chinese language, culture and/or going to travel to China for business or pleasure. The school will celebrate major traditional Chinese holidays, such as the Moon Festival in September/October, and the Spring Festival in January/February as well as others holidays. Students and staff will actively participate in local international cultural events. The school will serve as family oriented Chinese community. Instructors, parents and volunteers are needed.
