St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated around the region with plenty of choices for those looking to kick up their heels and be Irish for a day. Streets of London Pub Where: 649 E. Bidwell St., Folsom When: 11 to 2 a.m., today More Info: 984-3706 The Streets of London Pub will celebrate their St. Patrick’s Day Bash from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. The day will begin with a full buffet including corned-beef and cabbage and shepherd’s pie. When the food runs out, the pub becomes an indoor and outdoor bar setting for a 21 and older crowd. “We bring in gated fencing and have a beer truck outside with 11 beers on tap,” said Jaclyn Brewer, general manager of the Folsom pub. The evening will include drink specials including Irish car bombs, Guinness Irish stout, Jello shots and an outside satellite bar. “It’s a very long day, but it’s a lot of fun,” Brewer said. “It’s a great day to have a great party.” The Purple Place Bar and Grill Where: 363 Green Valley Road, El Dorado Hills When: Kitchen open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Band performs from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. today More Info: 933-2313 or thepurp.com The Purple Place Bar and Grill will celebrate the Irish holiday with a daylong special of house made corned-beef, cabbage and potatoes then rock out with local Irish band the BlackEyed Dempseys from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. $10 cover charge. Kitchen is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. “It’s one of the few places in the area that, I think, you can get a good Irish band that just rocks,” said Mike Hountalas, Purple Place owner since November 2006. Additional drink specials include Guinness Irish stout on tap, green colored beer and Irish car bombs. “This is our third St. Patrick’s Day and every year is better than before,” Hountalas said. “It’s just crazy.” Senior Lunch Where: El Dorado Hills Senior Center, 990 Lassen Lane, El Dorado Hills When: 11:30 a.m. today More Info: 358-3575 or edhcsd.org/senior_center.html The El Dorado Hills Senior Center will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with its regular senior lunch today starting at 11:30 a.m. with lunch served at noon at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center. Cost is $3 for seniors, aged 60 and older. “We will play some trivia games and wear green,” said Janet Kenneweg, district recreation supervisor. The Irish themed lunch will include corned-beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots with sherbet for dessert. Folsom Zoo volunteer docents will share stories and bring an animal for children ages 5 and older to meet. This month’s holiday guest is a bunny. “Children are invited to get up close and personal with an animal guest from the zoo and share stories with zoo docents,” said Debbie Centi, Folsom Public Library youth services. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, the library will offer holiday themed treats including shamrock cookies.
