With spring weather here, many locals are gearing up for outdoor events, concerts and art walks in Folsom. The Folsom Historic District Association Second Saturday art walk runs from 4:45 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 14. The stroll happens on Sutter Street in Folsom. The night will feature a celebrating for the grand opening of the new outdoor amphitheater and public plaza. “We invite our entire community to come out and enjoy Second Saturday and the grand opening of Folsom’s very own outdoor amphitheater in the heart of the historic downtown Folsom,” said Stephanie Rodgers, Folsom Historic District association director. Amphitheater events are from 4:45 to 8:30 p.m. and include performances from Folsom High School Jazz Choir and special guest speakers including Folsom Mayor Kerri Howell. Live entertainment will also include “Mad Cash Cats,” a Johnny Cash Tribute Band, and the Outlaw Dance Team, country line dancers. Kids can also have fun with magic, balloon creations and face painting. Walking up and down Sutter Street will also be a crowd pleaser from 5 to 9 p.m. with activities including an art walk and live music by Dr. Placebo in front of Rainbow Bridge Jewelers. Businesses will also stay open late offering tastings and specials, Rodgers said. People can then end the night at the Powerhouse Pub Outdoor Stage from 6 to 9 p.m. with live entertainment including “Mad Dash Band” and watch a dancing performance by Planet Earth Rising’s belly dancers. “We are extremely excited about the opportunity the amphitheater brings for future events,” Rodgers said. “It will allow us to expand our events and more importantly bring our community together to enjoy a variety of entertainment in historic downtown Folsom. The amphitheater will also give people from other areas a reason to come visit, shop and stay in Folsom. This is a very exciting time for Folsom.” For more information, visit
