Carter wins two "A" events at Folsom Depth Charge

The Folsom Depth Charge track meet held Saturday at Folsom High attracted nine other schools to compete in the uniquely formatted event which pits schools top athletes, second-best and third-best against one another, respectively.

At the varsity “A” level, Austin Carter picked up Folsom’s lone first-place finishes, as he won the 300 hurdles with a school-record time of 39.8 seconds. He also won the 110 hurdles in 15.18.

Jake Goodwin won a “B” level first-place finish in the 800, finishing in 2:06., while Blake Shaw and Cristiano Bobiles placed first in the “C” level, Shaw winning the 800 in 2:08 and Bobiles taking the 1,600 in 5:54.

Second-place finishes included Sam Scheuer (A – 1,600, 4:36), Vinnie Morin (B – 1,600, 4:39), Tim Scott (B – Tim Scott, pole vault, 11-0) and Peter Merrill (C – pole vault, 10-0).

Third-place finishes included Jake Goodwin (B – 800, 2:06).

For the varsity girls, Vivian Lam won the “A” 3,200 in a personal-best time of 11:30, while Chi Okoye placed third in the “A” 100 meters in 13.57.

At the freshman-sophomore boys’ level, Tayari Reed placed second in the “B” 100 meters in 12.28, as did Travis Vo in the 800 (2:16) and Josh Pettingill (110 hurdles, 19.18).

Second-place finishers at the “C” level included Riley Teodoro (100, 12.29) and Gerardo Flores (200, 26.7).

Garrick Johnson placed third in the “A” triple jump in 35 feet, 10 inches.

For the freshman-sophomore girls, Sarah Anderson won the “A” 3,200 with a personal-best time of 11:43, while also winning the 1,600 in 5:49.

Katie Bock placed first in the “B” 1,600 in 5:50, while Lindsey Bailey won the “c” 1,600 with a personal-best time of 6:15.
