Carter, Scheuer, Alhamad top performers for FHS at King-Gilbert InvitationalBy: Staff Report
Folsom High’s track and field team had several strong performances at the King/Gilbert Invitational Saturday at Granite Bay High.
Austin Carter and Sam Scheuer led the varsity boys, while Muna Alhamad was the top female performer. Carter placed first in the 300 intermediate hurdles with a time of 40.33 seconds, while Scheuer ran a 25-second personal-best time in the 3,200 meters and missed out on first place by 1.8 seconds, posting a time of 10:45. Scheuer’s time is the fourth-fastest in Folsom High history.
Alhamad, competing at the freshman-sophomore level, won the 800 meters in 2:25.2, the fastest time of the day at any level, and also took second in the 1,600 in 5:29. Both times were personal-best marks.
For the varsity boys, Vinnie Morin also placed 10th in the 400 meters in 54.11. For the varsity girls, Vivian Lam ran eighth in the 1,600 in 5:30, while Chi Okoye was tenth in the 100 meters in 13.57.
Joining Alhamad at the freshman-sophomore level, Sarah Anderson placed third in the 1,600 in 5:30, while Katie Bock took second in the 3,200 in 12:38.
For the boys, Berkay Basaran placed eighth in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 2 inches.
