Tony Johnson's pull-up jumper swished through the basket at the buzzer, giving the Bulldogs a 67-65 win over Rodriguez in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship basketball game Saturday at Arco Arena. The Bulldogs trailed most of the game, including by six points with two minutes to play and three with 55 seconds to go, but in both instances, freshman Kori Babineaux quickly cut into Rodriguez' lead. The first time Babineaux drained a 3-pointer and the second instance he hit a free throw to complete a three-point play which tied the game at 64 with 50 seconds to play. With a chance to possibly win the game, Rodriguez point guard Mike Johnson inexplicably fired up a 3-pointer with 15 seconds to play, after he had success driving to the basket all game long. Folsom's Scott Moore grabbed the rebound and Folsom had the ball with 13.6 seconds to play. Following a timeout, Babineaux's ensuing inbound attempt to Johnson went to no one after Johnson cut one way and Babineaux threw the ball the other. Rodriguez' Ramon Robinson, however, missed a breakaway dunk with the game on the line and Folsom still had life. Folsom again had trouble with the inbounds pass, as Babineaux couldn't hook up with Ben Palmer and Rodriguez had another chance to win the game. Patrick Greene had the game on his hands with 7.1 seconds remaining, missing the first of two free throws before drilling the second. That set up Johnson's game-winner where he drove the length of the floor and knocked down the 3-pointer at the buzzer. Johnson ended the game with 24 points, but got offensive help from Babineaux's 14, Scott Moore's nine and Palmer's eight.
