Folsom High’s golf season came to an end on May 13, as the team placed sixth at the Masters Tournament held at Stevinson Ranch Golf Club. Folsom shot a 413, 25 strokes behind winner Christian Brothers. Jesuit took second at 392, while Rocklin finished third in 395. The top-three teams qualified for the NorCal Tournament at Richmond Country Club, which was held Monday. Folsom’s Brian Knoll led the team with a 77, just one stroke away from qualifying for NorCals as an individual. D.J. Christensen finished in 79 strokes, followed by Taylor Knoll (85), Joel Slak (85), Alex Morgan (87) and Mike Salzano (91). “We got what we wanted, a warm, blustery day and the type of day we felt would be tough for everyone in the field, but we let it get to us,” Folsom coach Steve Burgess said. “We are disappointed that we missed a great opportunity to move on. “This is a young team, which gained valuable experience for the next couple of years. Now all we have to do is work hard in the offseason and come back next year and put what we learned into play. “This was a fun season and a great group of young men and I’m looking forward to see what they can accomplish in the future.”
