Things couldn’t look much better for Folsom High’s golf team. The Bulldogs enter the final Delta River League tournament at their home course at Empire Ranch on Tuesday with a 12-stroke lead over Jesuit and 36 strokes in front of Pleasant Grove. The Bulldogs have a good chance of knocking off Jesuit as league champion. “Going into our last league tournament, we’re looking forward to playing a good round and knocking Jesuit out of the league title that they have owned in the Delta River League for a long time,” Folsom coach Steve Burgess said. In the third of four league tournaments held April 27 at Cherry Island Golf Course in Elverta, the Bulldogs placed first with a 379, 13 strokes in front of Jesuit, whom they trailed by one entering the tournament. Taylor Knoll and Joel Slak led the way, as both shot 71s to end with the low score of the day. Brian Knoll finished his round in 75 strokes, followed by D.J. Christensen (78), Dalton Theis (84) and Alex Morgan (88). On April 24, Folsom took second to Ponderosa in the Cal Invitational at Plumas Pines Golf Course in Graegle. Folsom shot a 398, while the Bruins finished seven strokes in front. Theis and Christensen led the way for Folsom with 77s. Brian Knoll came in with an 80, followed by Taylor Knoll and Morgan (82) and Jason Wang (96).
