A tough start to league play continued Thursday night for Folsom High’s varsity girls’ basketball team.

The Lady Bulldogs lost its fourth-straight Delta River League game in a 75-35 loss at Ponderosa (1-3). Freshman standout Tori Harris was the only Folsom player in double figures, scoring half of her 12 points on back-to-back three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Folsom’s struggles included 27 turnovers, which led the team to its sixth straight loss.

“I think we expected a better game than it was, but we came out strong and they had some really good shooters,” said Harris, who was also upbeat about trying to get the team’s first league win. “We’re definitely going to play harder and try harder to execute better,” said Harris.

After missing its first three attempts, Ponderosa went 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Ashley Beck scored nine in the first quarter and finished with a game-high 17 points.

Grace Kim scored six points for Folsom. Courtney Buck and Taylor Scheid each had five.

Without Danielle DaCosta, the Bulldogs have relied in part on JV call-up Cailey Colombo in the last four games. She scored two points and along with Harris, was positive about heading forward in league.

“We’re trying our best,” said Colombo. “I think we can get it [their first league win]; we just need to believe in ourselves.”

Folsom’s next game is at home against St. Francis (1-3) on Jan. 25.
