Jake Browning’s record-setting performance might not have been a national record, but his numbers were impressive nonetheless. Various media outlets had reported that Browning’s 10 touchdown passes against Woodcreek on Friday tied a national record. While the touchdowns tie a state record, they fall well short of the national record, which is 16 touchdown passes set in 1921 by Arthur Smith of Cozad, Neb., first reported Sunday by Mark Tennis of ESPN.com. Browning’s 689 passing yards is the most for a quarterback in Northern California and it’s the second-highest total ever in the state. David Koral of Pacific Palisades threw for 764 yards in 2000. Tanner Trosin, Folsom’s starting quarterback last year, ranks fourth in state history with his 601 passing yards he threw for in a win over Deer Valley last season.
