Three Stages Performing Arts Center in Folsom has seen its share of Broadway since opening earlier this year. But when Tony-nominated Christiane Noll hits the stage on Nov. 20, the audience will see Broadway at its finest. Noll, a performer who has graced stages around the nation, including Broadway, where she was nominated for a Tony Award, will visit California as part of Folsom Lake Community Concert Association’s series. FLCCA president Craig Burnett is thrilled that the association was able to bring such talent to the Sacramento area. “We’re really excited about having her to Three Stages. She was nominated for a Tony Award for the Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her role in ‘Ragtime,’ and she also performed the song (Back to Before) on television during the ceremony,” he said. “She gave a great performance, and received a standing ovation.” Dianne Burnett, FLCCA’s outreach and volunteer coordinator, said Noll was her first choice from the various talents the group auditioned for this season. “When Christiane sung ‘The Hills Are Alive’ from ‘The Sound of Music,’ you could have heard a pin drop. She sounded so much like Julie Andrews. It was just a riveting performance,” she said. “She’s a beautiful woman, and her voice is just crystal clear.” Dianne Burnett said Noll was most of the board members’ first or second choice for the season. “We knew our subscribers would absolutely love her performance,” she said. “She’s one of those entertainers who you can just tell has something special.” In addition to performances on Broadway, Noll has sung with greats like Placido Domingo with the Washington National Opera at Kennedy Center, Julie Andrews at the Hollywood Bowl, and as one of the Three Broadway Divas with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. With a reputation as one of the most versatile actresses in American theater, Noll’s vocals shine, whether in a soul-stirring version of Send in the Clowns, a bluesy He’s a Tramp, or the up-tempo tune, “Mary Poppins” Let’s go Fly a Kite. Craig Burnett said Noll was also his first choice as a performer to bring to Three States. “I looked around this huge auditorium (Vanderbilt University, where the board auditioned performers for the season), and people’s jaws were just dropping,” he said. “We had no idea who she was, or who she had performed with at the time, but she was just a standout.” Noll will perform nearly a dozen songs at the concert, and will be accompanied by acclaimed pianist, Ross Patterson. Craig Burnett said there are only a handful of tickets still available. After her performance at Three Stages, Noll will head to Hong Kong to perform with the Hong Kong Philharmonic. “She will blow the roof off the place — this is going to be a fantastic show,” Craig Burnett said. * * * Christiane Noll When: 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20 Where: Three Stages Performing Arts Center at Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway, Folsom Tickets: $25 - $35 Information: FLCCA.org, Christianenoll.com, threestages.net
