Bowlers hit their mark over the summerBy: Matt Long Telegraph Sports Editor
The temperature wasn’t the only thing hot in Folsom this summer. Bowlers rolling at Folsom Lake Bowl posted house records that are the highest scores ever achieved in the bowling center’s 52-year history. Whether it’s consistent lane play or improved bowling, scores are going up at Folsom Lake Bowl. Already this year 27 perfect 300 games have been rolled, as well as 12 three-game series higher than 800. On top of that, Brent Bridges of Citrus Heights and Deborah Horn of Cameron Park achieved the highest scores ever rolled at the establishment. Bridges, 20, is one of the top bowlers in the area with 53 perfect games and 28 three-game series of 800 or more to his credit. On June 14 he rolled games of 268, 300 and 289 for a total of 857, which is the highest series ever at the bowling center. Horn, 39, shot her first 300 game earlier in the summer and on Aug. 23 she put together a series of 279, 279 and 264 games for a 822 total; the highest series by a female at Folsom Lake Bowl and the only female to reach 800. Both bowlers shot their high series in the Todd Adams Pro Shop Scratch Match Play. The top bowlers in Folsom Lake Bowl’s winter leagues have some high scores to shoot for as bowling leagues begin this month.
