For the fourth straight year, Folsom?s Curtis Booth won his weight class at USA Junior Judo Nationals. After taking silver in the 2012 California State Judo Championships in May, losing only to Myles Honda of the South Bay Judo Club, Booth, representing the East Bay Judo Club, had a goal of defending his title and hopefully avenge his defeat to Honda and he did both in winning the 105.6-pound weight class at the 2012 USJF/USJA Junior Judo Nationals in Spokane, Wash. on July 8. Both Booth and Honda were dominant leading up to the finals, defeating all of their opponents by ippon (a perfect score). In the championship bout the rivals went into overtime where Booth used a combination move to take the match and the gold medal, not to mention avenge his earlier loss to Honda. ?I owe a great deal to my training club and all my training partners and senseis,? Booth said. ?It?s with their support, guidance and belief in me that gave me the courage and strength to achieve my goal.?
