Blast from the Past car show rolls into fairgrounds

The Gold Country Fairgrounds will be awash in red Sunday, candy apple red that is, as the 17th annual A Blast from the Past classic car show rolls into Auburn.
Hosted by Joe Bailon, considered the creator of the candy apple red paint color for custom vehicles, the event will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features hot rods, custom cars and motorcycles. A Blast from the Past is free to the public and will feature a 50/50 drawing, music, DJ, vendors and special guests.
More than 60 awards will be handed out, including the candy apple red trophy. Also to be distributed will be dash plaques and event T-shirts. Costs for those wishing to enter vehicles and bikes for competition are $35 for cars and trucks and $20 for motorcycles.
Registration for vehicles closes at noon with award presentations beginning at 4 p.m.
