-A +A
Get your next summer read or discover a new favorite author at the California?s Authors exhibit at the State Fair. Fairgoers can come to Building A/B to meet these local authors, ask them questions and get a book signed. Some of the authors include former Sacramento Monarch Ruthie Bolton, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Brenda Novak and travel writer Shelley Buck. Ruthie Bolton, author of The Ride of my Life, is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and the original franchise player for the Sacramento Monarchs women?s professional basketball team. Born in McClain, Mississippi, Ruthie is the 16th of 20 children. Her book is a testament to the struggles and adversities that shaped her path to stardom. ?One of the most powerful things we can do is share our stories. As time passes on, we recognize how positive, uplifting stories motivate and help others along their unique and extraordinary paths,? said Bolton. Brenda Novak, author of Heat, Inside, and Of Noble Birth among other titles, attended Brigham Young University on a full-ride academic scholarship for two years before leaving school early to marry and move to California. Today she has authored 38 books with more than 4 million copies in print. Brenda and her husband, Ted, live in Sacramento and are the proud parents of five children. Shelley Buck is the author of Floating Point. After making long commutes to the Silicon Valley, she decided to move her family closer to her work by transforming their boat in the San Francisco Bay into a home. This memoir, told with zest and humor, is the story of her family?s waterfront journey, an experience that transforms their lives.
