Vista del Lago?s Madeleine Ankhelyi, Matt Raymond and the boys? 4x400-meter relay team won Division IV track championships on Friday. Ankhelyi won the 3,200-meter run in 10 minutes, 53.86 seconds, while Raymond claimed the 400 meters in 51.83. The relay team posted a winning time of 3:26.62. Ankhelyi?s time was a record for Division IV and Division V female athletes. Ankhelyi, Raymond and the relay team will lead a group of Vista athletes competing in the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Championships on Thursday and Friday at Elk Grove High School. Caprina Pipion, Clare Carroll and Meghan Heffelfinger also earned second-place finishes for the Vista girls, who placed third behind Cosumnes Oaks and Oakdale. Pipion ran second in the 400 in 1:01.25, while Carroll finished behind Ankhelyi in the 3,200 in 11:20.97. Heffelfinger?s discus throw of 116 feet, 4 inches, also placed her second. Sierra Jaeger, Marisa Leung and the 4x100-meter relay team earned third-place finishes; Jaeger in the 1,600 (5:21.16) and Leung in the pole vault (9-9), while the relay team posted a time of 51.0. Heffelfinger placed fourth in the shot put (34-11 ½), as did the 4x400-meter relay team (4:13.37). Ethan Pipion earned a second-place finish for the boys, as he posted a time of 41.24 in the 300 hurdles. Teammate Austin Robertson placed fifth in the same event in 41.68. Other top finishers for the boys included Zach Jaeger (3,200, 7th, 10:08.27), Chris Cooper (100, 8th, 11.46) and the 4x100-meter relay team (8th, 44.55). The boys placed third as a team behind El Dorado and Patterson.
