Alhamad, Bock, Lewis lead Folsom at fresh-soph track and field league championships

Muna Alhamad, Katie Bock and Ariana Lewis led Folsom High?s track and field team at the freshman-sophomore Delta River League championships held at Ponderosa on Tuesday. Alhamad led wire-to-wire in winning the 800 meters in a league record time of 2 minutes, 27.77 seconds. She also won the 1,600 meters with a new meet record time of 5:33.14, breaking the former record set by Folsom High alum Rachel Rucireta by four seconds. Bock won the pole vault by clearing the bar at 8 feet, tying the meet record of Folsom High alum Shellie Coverdale, but her best performance came in the 3,200. Bock?s first seven laps were clocked between 90 and 92 seconds before she ran an 86-second final lap to finish with a 21-second personal-best record and meet record time of 12:05.79. She also broke the meet record of Folsom alum Blanka Hodur. Lewis won two league titles, claiming the 100 meters in 13.74 and the 200 in 27.63. The three girls combined with Michelle Hanson to place second in the 1,600-meter relay, while Cameron Estep also placed second in the discus with a personal-best throw of 81-10. For the boys, Seth Rockenbach had a busy day, taking third in the long jump with a two-foot personal-best mark of 18-10 ¾. He also placed third in the 100 and fourth in the 200 (24.07). Jake Klaiber finished second in the high jump (5-4), eighth in the long jump (17-11) and 11th in the triple jump (33-9). Garrick Johnson took fifth in the long jump at 18-4 1/2 , while Tim Scott placed second and Jose Higareda was fourth in the pole vault at 10-6 and 10-0, respectively.
