PLACERVILLE ? A Cameron Park man accused of killing his wife appeared in El Dorado County Superior Court briefly Monday. Todd Winkler, 45, was in court for what was to be a pre-preliminary hearing, however, the case was put off once again. Winkler?s attorney, David Weiner, said he and the prosecution are still waiting for all the evidence to be provided from law enforcement officials. Additionally, the autopsy report has not yet been turned over to the attorneys. Winkler?s wife, Rachel Winkler, was found dead in her Cameron Park home Feb. 27. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and contends the fatal stabbing of his wife was self-defense after she allegedly attacked him with scissors. The couple?s three children were home at the time of the slaying and are in the custody of Rachel?s father, Don Hatfield. Winkler is scheduled to return at 8 a.m. Aug. 6 in Dept. 7 of El Dorado County Superior Court for a pre-preliminary hearing. For previous stories on the murder, visit and search ?murder? or ?winkler.?
