This Saturday the City of Folsom will be peppered with thousands of residents, donning green and grey t-shirts and serving their city. For the fifth consecutive year, the City of Folsom presents Community Service Day.
Community Service Day mobilizes hundreds of volunteers of all ages and interests to complete projects throughout Folsom that will have a lasting impact in the community. Project range of all sizes and complexity level and there is something for everybody.
Since this annual event’s early beginning, the Folsom Telegraph has been a proud partner and a sponsor with the City of Folsom along with many other area businesses and organizations. Our primary role in this partnership is to ensure the residents of this city are well aware of this event in the weeks leading up to it as the trusted news resource that the Telegraph is in this community.
Throughout the last five weeks, the Telegraph has featured several segments of a special series leading up to this big weekend ahead. We have told you about the event, about the projects and told you how to get involved. Now, just a matter of hours from the big day, this newspaper hopes to see many of you out there, pitching in for your great city.
Volunteering, regardless of the capacity, is not only about the impacts we can make in the lives of others or in a community, but it plays a role in fostering us to become more tolerant individuals and giving towards others.
Each of us should always be willing to offer our own time whenever possible and expect nothing in return. Trust us when we tell you that volunteering will bring you and your family much joy and personal rewards, an experience you might never have expected. Even if it’s only for an hour or less, the time you give can mean so much to others, whether it’s in the form of a nutritious meal, a litter-free river front or special package for a member of the military, it’s the effort put forth to “give” that truly matters.
Kudos to the City of Folsom and everyone involved to make Community Service Day as effective and exciting as they do. We hope to see all of you out there in the community along with members of our staff, making a difference in our city this Saturday.
