The Folsom Cordova Education Foundation (FCEF) is set to host a Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) board candidate forum on Monday, Sept. 24, where the community will have the opportunity to hear candidates’ views on numerous topics.

This event is co-sponsored by the Folsom Telegraph, Folsom TV, the Grapevine Independent and Sounding Board Marketing & Communications.

All candidates including Jaya Badiga, Joshua Hoover, Dave Reid and incumbent Ed Short will be present during the forum, and the evening event will be moderated by Adam Frick of Folsom TV.

FCUSD School Board President and FCEF President JoAnne Reinking said this year’s school board election is the first since 2010 to have seats contested.

“There are three seats up for election with one incumbent running,” Reinking said. “This is the first time candidates have campaigned hard. Each of them have strong skill sets and would serve the community well.”

This year’s school board election is an important one and will produce the first significant change in leadership in a number of years, she said.

“This forum is a great opportunity for the community to get to know each candidate and learn about their view points on issues that affect the current and future state of the school district,” Reinking said. “We’ll do our best to cover as many topics as possible.”
Questions on issues anticipated include comments on meeting future growth in Folsom and Rancho Cordova; how the district should respond to those needs while keeping the delivery of educational excellence; school safety and campus climate; budget priorities; recruiting and retaining quality teachers and more.

Reinking said the community is welcome to submit question suggestions to
