Browning throws seven touchdowns; stellar defense lifts BulldogsBy: Matt Long, Sports Editor
Jake Browning threw for 520 yards and seven touchdowns and the Bulldog defense was dynamite in a 55-10 thrashing of Cathedral Catholic in the season-opening game for both teams.
Folsom dominated on both sides of the ball against a program that’s won six of the last seven section titles in the San Diego Section.
“They’re a high-quality program, but I thought if we played well we’d win,” Folsom coach Kris Richardson said. “I didn’t expect to win 55-10, though. Our first-string defense held them to a field goal. We just swarmed. We dominated up front, which allowed the linebackers to run downhill and the secondary didn’t allow any big plays. The defense looked incredible.”
Cole Thompson complemented Browning’s performance by catching 10 passes for 193 yards and four touchdowns. Parker Boone caught five passes for 67 yards and a score. Jake Jeffrey hauled in three catches for 95 yards and touchdown, while Tre Green made four catches for 13 yards and a touchdown. Josiah Deguara didn’t score, but made eight catches for 56 yards.
