The Folsom Chamber of Commerce announced last week that a Folsom City Council candidate forum will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Harris Center at Folsom Lake College.

The official filing period to run for city council has closed, ending with 12 candidates vying for three open seats.

Two long-time incumbents, Council members Steve Miklos and Andy Morin, will not seeking reelection, but Council member Kerri Howell is, and this year’s fight will have everyone on the edge on their seat.

All 12 candidates have been invited to participate in the forum – Sarah Aquino, Scott Bailey, Kenneth Brown, YK Chalamcherla, Kerri Howell, Michael Kozlowski, Jennifer Lane, Barbara Leary, Mark Moore, Aaron Ralls, Rob Ross and Chad Vander Veen.

According to a release from the Chamber, political endorsements will be announced following the candidate forum.

The forum will be moderated by former County Sheriff John McGinnis, who is also a Folsom resident and the host of KFBK’s John McGinnis Show.

The forum is one of many that will be hosted by various community organizations and provides voters an opportunity to learn where the candidates stand on important issues facing the City of Folsom, including economic opportunity and jobs.

This forum is co-sponsored by the Folsom Telegraph, Folsom Lake College, the Folsom Chamber of Commerce and Style Magazine.

The forum will be streamed live on Folsom TV on Follow on Twitter at #FolsomDebate.

The Folsom Chamber has a long history of political engagement, beginning with the organization efforts to incorporate the City of Folsom in 1946. The chamber represents more than 1,000 members and is the community’s leading advocate for economic growth, jobs and protecting Folsom’s quality of life.
