Construction crews and office staff at Woodside Homes collected 28 new backpacks filled with school supplies and donated them to Cyndee Reed, founder of Adopt a Family Program of NorCal, and her kindergarten grandson, Jackson, on Tuesday, July 31.

“Our team embraced this effort and filled the request for backpacks within a couple of weeks,” said Scott Hoisington, president of Woodside Homes of Northern California. “The spirit of giving filled our offices.”

Each of the backpacks contains pens, pencils, crayons, markers, a ruler, scissors, pocket folders, a spiral notebook, binder, glue stick, tape and paper.

“We rely on gifts from our donors and are grateful to receive gifts that can be given to the children,” Reed said.

The nonprofit group that is staffed by volunteers organizes the donations and finds the families in need.

“We are frugal with the donation income we receive so that all donations go toward making the program happen,” she said.
