Cole Huntley of the Broadstone Barracudas capped off an exceptional swim season in style.
After setting three league records, winning all five individual events and being the high-point scorer at the Suburban Swim League championships, Huntley, 12, was up to his tricks again at the Sacramento Valley Meet of Champions Aug. 2-3 in Woodland. The meet features athletes from 49 teams from as far away as Manteca.
Huntley competed in six events in the 11-12-year-old age group and won five of them and took second in the other. He was the high-point scorer in his age group and the third-highest point scorer in the entire meet. Huntley won the 100-yard individual medley (1:04.51), 50-yard free (25.44), 100-yard free (55.88), 50-yard backstroke (29.93) and the 500-yard butterfly (27.13). He placed second in the 50-yard breast stroke (34.01).
At the Suburban Swim League championship meet the previous week, Huntley won the 100-yard IM (1:04.29), 50-yard free (25.31), 50-yard back (30.29), 50-yard breast (33.31) and 50-yard fly (27.96). His times in the 100 IM, 50 free and 50 fly set league records, while all five times set team records. Huntley was the meet’s overall high-point scorer.
