Folsom Athlete of the Week: Matt Sliger

By: Matt Long of the Telegraph
-A +A

Matt Sliger didn’t get many at bats during the District 54 Little League All-Star Tournament, but Sliger’s bigger role on the Folsom American Major team came on the mound.

Sliger started two of the team’s five games, both wins over an undermanned Divide team and the eventual runner-up, Roseville West. Neither team scored a run on Sliger, as his command and control on the mound were out of sight.

“Matt had a great year overall,” Folsom American Major All-Star Manager Bob Tremain said. “At the City Classic, he beat Folsom National and I think he struck out 13. He’s been a horse on the mound all year and he was our number-one pitcher. He’s a good kid and I enjoyed coaching him.”
