Woodcreek Little League’s five errors and Rocklin’s 10 hits were enough to force a 9-4 championship finish in Rocklin’s favor during the Section 4 finale at American River College Wednesday.

Rocklin led 7-0 after two innings and shrugged off a four-run Woodcreek outburst in the fourth.

Jason Schafer (five strikeouts) and Bradley Jones combined for the Rocklin win on the mound. Zack Horne pitched 3 and 2/3 innings, downing three via strikes for Woodcreek. Jack Fitzpatrick also pitched.

Mitchell Secondo, the star of Tuesday’s one-hit victory over Woodcreek, belted three hits for Rocklin while Keith Walker (two RBIs) had two. Chris Meeks led Rocklin with four quality at-bats.

Woodcreek was unable to produce a player with multiple hits, but Spencer Cody managed an RBI and Justin Smith had three quality at-bats.

Rocklin will be back to American River College for the Division 2 state tournament from Saturday, July 19 to July 25.

Rocklin awaits the winner of Section 7 and 5 in a second round game scheduled for 8 p.m. on Sunday.
