Cash Prophets return to amphitheater tonight
Now that the Folsom’s Hometown Parade has come and gone, there is still plenty of fun to be had in the Historic District during these dog days of summer. Now at its season halfway mark, the Historic Folsom Twilight Concert Series has a number of exciting shows in the coming weeks to bring audiences to their feet at the Historic Folsom Amphitheater.
This Thursday, July 5, the sounds of Johnny Cash will light up the stage as the Cash Prophets return to the series for their second straight year. Lead by Bobby Dickson, the Cash Prophets will bring many of Johnny Cash’s famed hits, including the popular “Folsom Prison Blues” that the legend sang at Folsom Prison live. Last year, this act was extremely popular, prompting the Folsom Historic District to bring them back for another performance.
Next Thursday, July 12, the Historic Amphitheater will be home to the sounds of Cynthia Renee and Company. Performing a variety of hits from the 80s, 90s and current, this singer-songwriter performs a diverse set list that offers something for everyone. She’s a little bit country; she’s a little bit rock and roll and everything in between. Renee will be accompanied for this special performance by guitarist Skip Mullin and drummer Rita Harrington.
The Historic Folsom Summer Concert Series begins at 7:15 p.m. each Thursday evening and concludes at 9:15 p.m. The concerts are free admission and outside food and drink are welcomed. The FHDA invites everyone to enjoy the many eateries on Sutter Street before or after the show as well. For a list of all upcoming concerts, go to historicfolsom.org.
