Granite Bay, Calif.  – Granite Bay Football Club (GBFC) will partner with three distinguished women’s soccer players from the US National Team this week as they host their first-ever Full Pitch Soccer Academy.

World Cup US Women’s National Championship Team members Abby Wambach, Shannon Boxx and Christine Rampone will lead and train over 100 youth soccer players June 29 and 30 on the pitch at Granite Bay High School as part of the two-day inaugural event.

Granite Bay FC is the first soccer club in the nation to partner with world champions Wambach, Boxx and Rampone, offering youth players personalized training and instruction, as well as a fun and competitive camp.

The enrollment opportunity is offered to Granite Bay FC members, as well as, youth soccer players in the greater Sacramento and Northern California area. Despite some extreme regional temperatures, the camp is expecting a near-capacity crowd, hoping to catch a glimpse of the national champions in action or working with their young soccer standouts.

Full Pitch Soccer Academy training sessions begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. both days. They will focus on player development, working specifically in the areas of technical and tactical elements of the game. The camp will provide a fun learning environment where players will be challenged, learn to build confidence and prepare for future success.

Granite Bay FC President Jason Sommer is more than pleased to have his club bring this incredible soccer opportunity to the Sacramento area.

“We are honored to have Abby, Shannon and Christine here to train and work with local athletes on their soccer skills,” Sommer said. “Players of all ages are truly excited to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity … to be on the field with three world champions while participating in this two day event.”

Participants will receive a free soccer ball, t-shirt, and autographed player cards from Abby Wambach, Shannon Boxx, and Christie Rampone.

Founded in 1980, Granite Bay Football Club (previously Eureka Soccer Club), is a non-profit organization with over 1,300 athletes participating in its competitive and recreation soccer programs and is a premier soccer organization in the Granite Bay and Roseville areas.
