What better way to celebrate a win than pizza?
Folsom High’s tennis team indulged on some of Domino’s finest after an 8-1 win over Woodcreek last Thursday. The top of the ladder was particularly dominant, as Sean Barstow blanked his opponent at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0, while Andrew Tseng only dropped a pair of games at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1. Diego Rodriguez played well at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
At No. 5 singles, Langston Vu had a battle on his hands but won 6-4, 6-3. Rohit Ramkumar also came away with a win at No. 6, 7-6 (3), 6-1.
In doubles play, Pranay Jha and Justin Chao wore down their opponents, 7-5, 6-2. Akash Abraham and Kobish Balakrishnan had to work harder than anyone else in a 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 win. Mihir Purani and Prath Jonnalagadda also came away with a win at No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 6-2.
“Great playing,” Folsom coach Rich Klingensmith said of his team’s performance. “The singles were very strong. Sean is steamrolling his opponents. Rohit grabbed his first varsity singles win. The doubles started slowly, but had strong second sets. Overall, it was outstanding.”
Folsom has a busy week with home matches Tuesday and Wednesday against Granite Bay and Del Oro, respectively, sandwiched with road matches at Granite Bay Monday and at Del Oro Thursday.
