Our View: Chambers commending commerce

-A +A

Today the Folsom Chamber of Commerce and much of the business community will come together at Lakeside Church for the annual Folsom Chamber Business Awards event. This is a much-anticipated event in this city each year and the Folsom Telegraph is honored to be a sponsor of it, along with being a member of the Folsom Chamber of Commerce’s Chairman’s Circle, connecting us to all of their events throughout the year.

The Folsom Chamber isn’t the only one to give our area businesses some great recognition over this last week. Last Thursday, the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce held its annual business awards luncheon at The Canyon restaurant in Folsom and just yesterday, the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce held its annual Business Walk, visiting numerous businesses in the area. This chamber also holds annual business awards much like those taking place this past week.

We have been asked many times as to why the Folsom Telegraph is so engaged in the area of El Dorado Hills and Rancho Cordova like we are. Although we are based in Folsom, our coverage area reaches beyond the zip code in which our passionate and talented staff puts together this publication and the Folsom Lake Entertainer.

Up until two years ago, we actually published two weekly papers out of this office, with El Dorado Hills having its very own edition. We made the decision to combine these two publications into one bigger, bolder, better Folsom Telegraph, serving Folsom and El Dorado Hills. The end result has been one of great success. Our pages feature a great mix of content from both of these communities as well as a mix of dedicated area businesses that advertise with our publication and, ultimately, support it so it continues to be a strong resource for the community.

When it comes to Rancho Cordova, the Folsom Telegraph is also a proud member of this area Chamber of Commerce, and, like the others they too support not only our publication well, but they support the businesses in their community as well as those in their neighboring cities.  Rancho Cordova has much to offer just minutes from this city. We have many advertisers from there who utilize our pages to promote their services, events and more and this community has a great deal of events and happenings we work to highlight as well.

As I commend our three area chambers for their hard work in honoring our local businesses, I also want to take a moment to let everyone that on April 1, voting begins for the Folsom Telegraph’s 2018 Best of the Best Awards. Look for the ballots on our website and in each of our weekly papers throughout the month of April where you can join us and vote for your favorite businesses in which we will recognize the Best of 2018 in May. As we have been doing this for nearly a decade now, our area chamber teams work with us as well to encourage the community to join in the effort.

In today’s day and age, it is important to remember how important it is that local commerce is recognized like this by our area chambers and the local newspaper. It’s not something you will necessarily find within the wide world of social media, and it’s likely if you do, it’s not by the efforts of the local community.

When it comes to supporting local business, the Folsom Chamber, El Dorado Hills Chamber, Rancho Cordova Chamber and the Folsom Telegraph are four entities that will continue to do so, together, for years to come. Let’s remember to support those who support us.
