Oak Ridge Principal let go
On the night of February 29, the El Dorado Union High School District’s Board of Trustees authorized Superintendent Stephen Wehr to release Principal Paul Burke from his administrative position at the end of the 2015 – 2016 school year. Burke, who has been on paid administrative leave since November, was accused of sexual harassment along with other allegations.
“I was falsely accused of sexual harassment in October and I immediately reported it to the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources,” said Burke in a statement released on the Facebook page for Parents for District Change. “Despite the district’s acknowledgement very early on that the accusation was completely unfounded, I was placed on administrative leave while the district continued to entertain additional unfounded allegations from the same accuser.”
The El Dorado Union High School District Superintendent’s Office provided no additional information beyond the authorization for release statement that was read at the board meeting. According to a statement from Jacob D. Flesher, an attorney for Burke, also posted to the Parents for District Change Facebook page, a lawsuit against the El Dorado Union High School District, Superintendent Stephen Wehr, Assistant Superintendent Tony DeVille, and other district employees will be filed in federal court on Burke’s behalf.
