Oak Ridge High’s soccer teams ended the regular season a good note and now must win some road games to work their way through the playoff brackets.

The varsity girls’ team ended the season with three wins and a tie, while the boys’ last three games ended in a tie and two wins. The girls, seeded ninth in the Division I playoffs, open the playoffs Wednesday at eighth-seeded Enochs, while the boys, seeded 10th, play at McClatchy on Tuesday.

“The girls are on a good run,” Oak Ridge Coach Joe Champion said. “If it weren’t for a late equalizer from Del Oro Thursday, it would have been four wins in a row. We head into the playoffs with high confidence and momentum, but face a difficult draw in having the long drive down to Enochs of Modesto. We know this will be a tough game, but have great memories of winning a close playoff game at Enochs a few seasons back so hoping for a repeat there.

“The boys head into the playoffs on the back of two wins so we are hopeful we can keep edging towards our peak performance. The boys will have to be at their best in order to advance.”
