The Folsom Lake College women’s volleyball team made the most of their return to the home court (after two weeks away) on Wednesday night with a 3-1 victory over Sacramento City College, 25-22, 25-16, 27-25, 25-19 at Falcon Gym.
With three players at six feet or taller, the Panthers had a decided height advantage, but it did not seem to intimidate the Falcons. Caitlin Dillon, Alicia Wilson, Kristen Whitney, Jasmin Sowell-Scott, and Valerie Hutton all combined to make their presence felt at the net, whether with blocks, big hits, or quick dumps over the Panther blockers. Sophomore Olivia Turner turned in a nice defensive effort with countless digs of hard spikes, while Mai Faraimo filled in admirably at setter.
With a win on Friday at Santa Rosa, the Falcons can reach the halfway point of the Big 8 schedule in no worse than a tie for second place, just one win behind the leader.
Spirit Week Finale
The Falcons will close out Spirit Week on Friday with a pre-game tailgate picnic (no alcohol) from 4-6 p.m. in the parking lot near the track prior to the women’s 6 p.m. soccer match against American River. Wear your teal or black and come out to support the Falcons.
