Every Oak Ridge runner who ran at the Clovis Invitational Saturday set a personal-best record, and the one runner who didn’t, Abby Fletcher, had a great race and placed second overall.

It was a great day for the Trojans, as the freshman-sophomore girls placed fourth out of 26 teams, while being the highest finishing team from Northern California. The boys placed 17th out of 34 teams.

Fletcher led the girls, placing second overall in 19 minutes, 22 seconds. Ava Maier finished sixth in 19:43 and was followed by Tiana Oliver (23rd, 20:39), Dylan Wright (57th, 21:36), Kayla Rutz (62nd, 21:43) and Aylin Askin (103rd, 22:44).

“All of our girls passed at least one person in the final mile, and Kayla passed 13,” Oak Ridge coach Bob Wright said. “Their combined effort moved the girls from sixth to fourth place over the final mile.”

Brian Lew was the top finisher for the boys, as he ran a 17:29.3 to place 41st. Nathan Conover ran 66th in 17:53 with James Gezi not far behind in 75th place in 18:01.6. Drew Gladwell (107th, 18:23.9), Clark Fransham (122nd, 18:37.6), Grant Geeting (125th, 18:39.7) and Ethan Lepore (188th, 20:11.5) also ran for the team.

Oak Ridge competes in the Bronco Invitational on Saturday at Johnson Springview Park in Rocklin.
