A Folsom woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle Thursday morning, Jan. 10, on eastbound Blue Ravine Road between Big Valley Road.
Folsom Police dispatch received a 911 call from the driver of the vehicle around 6 a.m. stating he had struck what he believed to be a pedestrian in the roadway, said Folsom Police Detective Melanie Catanio.
Upon arrival of emergency response, the female victim, identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 27-year-old Mary Robertson, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Catanio said the male driver remained on scene to provide information
“The driver was evaluated and it was determined he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It also appears he was not distracted on his phone,” she said.
Catanio said it was discovered Robertson works at a local business and was on her way to work.
“The Major Accident Response Team is trying to determine what the circumstances were that led her to be in the roadway at that point,” she said. “The response team was called out this morning and is currently investigating.”
The roadway was closed the majority of the day due to the collision, with traffic details directing motorists to a new route, but has since reopened.
No further information has been released at this time.
