Vista's Cokley to play football at Cal PolyBy: Matt Long of the Telegraph
Vista senior Andrew Cokley will play football in college.
Cokley verbally committed to accept a scholarship from Cal Poly in November and signed with the school just before Christmas.
The three-year varsity starter at offensive tackle at Vista del Lago will take his game to the beach in southern California, as he chose Cal Poly over Portland State. He was also talking with Eastern Washington, UC Davis and UNLV.
“Knowing the hard work I put in paid off is great,” Cokley said “The support system I had between my parents and coaches helped me. Knowing my future is taken care of is huge. A lot of people don’t have this opportunity.
“Cal Poly’s campus is massive and beautiful. It’s 10 minutes from the beach, and it’s easy to fall in love with it.”
Cokley plans to either study Ag Business or Horticulture/Crop Science.
As he finishes up his senior year at Vista, the 6-4, 270-pound Cokley will continue to work with his personal strength trainer to prepare to play at the next level.
“At some point, they will send me some film to look at,” Cokley said. “I’m ready to go.”
